Description

The CF-1410 Carbon Floating Ring Seal is a cartridge-construction shaft sealing assembly engineered for high-speed rotating equipment handling gases, vapours, fumes, exhaust streams, oil mist, water mist, and selected process media. Its floating carbon ring design operates with a controlled radial clearance, allowing the ring set to follow shaft movement while maintaining low leakage across the sealing chamber. Reference designs for this seal family use dry-running, self-adjusting carbon or PTFE compound rings, very small operating gaps, and segmented ring arrangements for maintainability.

For the target industry/application, the CF-1410 is best positioned for high-speed turbomachinery and process-gas sealing across chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, refining, power generation, pulp & paper, food processing, metal production, mining, shipbuilding, and plant engineering. Gipfel’s product scope includes carbon floating seal rings in cartridge-type configurations, while reference carbon floating ring seal documentation identifies applications in compressors, steam turbines, fans/blowers, mixers, agitators, mills, dryers, bearing seals, and process-gas equipment.

Technical Key Features

  • Floating carbon ring geometry accommodates radial shaft movement and thermal growth.
  • Very small operating clearance for controlled leakage in gas, vapour, mist, and exhaust duties.
  • Cartridge construction for controlled assembly, easier installation, and reduced site-fitment error.
  • Dry-running, low-friction operation with no dynamic sealing element clamped directly to the shaft.
  • Suitable for high sliding velocity applications where conventional contact seals or lip seals are unsuitable.
  • Segmented or multi-part ring design enables replacement without full shaft redesign, depending on configuration.
  • Optional buffer gas, suction, vent, or grease-barrier ports for demanding process-gas and contaminated services.

Engineering verification note

CF-1410-specific certified limits were not provided in the uploaded files, so the operating envelope above is inferred from comparable cartridge/chamber carbon floating ring seal references and should be verified against final shaft size, gas composition, pressure differential, temperature, shaft hardness, runout, axial movement, and porting arrangement before release for quotation or manufacture.
