Split Bearing Isolator (BI1710-SP)

Category:

Description

The BI1710-SP is the split version of the Gipfel BI1710 non-contact bearing isolator, engineered on request for equipment where the shaft cannot be pulled or the coupling cannot be removed without major disassembly. The rotor and stator are supplied in two halves and assembled around the shaft in place, allowing bearing housings on large pumps, motors, gearboxes, fans, and process machinery to be upgraded from lip seals during routine maintenance windows.

Like the standard BI1710-NF, the split design retains oil, grease, or oil-mist lubrication and excludes dust, water, and process contamination through a rotor–stator labyrinth path with no rubbing contact on the shaft. Each BI1710-SP is engineered to the customer’s shaft, housing bore, and installation drawing, and its split joint, sealing arrangement, and installation method are confirmed for the specific application before manufacture.

Technical Key Features

  • Two-piece rotor and stator for installation around the shaft without coupling or bearing removal.
  • Non-contact labyrinth sealing path; no shaft wear, scoring, or frictional heat.
  • Lubricant retention for oil-bath, splash, oil-mist, and grease-lubricated bearing housings.
  • Contaminant exclusion against dust, moisture, washdown spray, and process vapours.
  • Engineered to the shaft diameter, housing bore, and available axial space.
  • Bronze or stainless-steel construction selected for the service environment.
  • Suited to retrofit, shutdown, and maintenance-window installation on large equipment.
