High Pressure Mechanical Seal

Description;

Highpressure mechanical seals are specifically engineered to operate under the extreme conditions found in critical industrial applications such as highpressure water injection systems, chemical processing pumps, and powergeneration equipment. These seals are designed to handle elevated pressures, often exceeding 100 bar (1450 psi), along with high temperatures and aggressive media, while maintaining a tight, reliable seal to prevent fluid leakage.

The HP760 HighPressure Mechanical Seal is engineered for demanding services where elevated pressure, thermal cycling, pressure transients, and continuousduty operation require stable sealface performance. Its hydraulically balanced design reduces face loading at high pressure, helping to control heat generation, leakage risk, and premature wear in critical rotating equipment.

Constructed using advanced materials such as silicon carbidetungsten carbide, and corrosionresistant alloys, the HP760 is designed to endure mechanical stress, thermal expansion, and chemical attack. Depending on service requirements, it can be configured with hardface pairings, corrosionresistant metallurgy, and elastomers selected for chemical compatibility, temperature exposure, and service severity. The seal can also be applied with dualseal configurations and barrierfluid systems (for example, API Plan 53/54) and, where necessary, external cooling to ensure consistent, reliable operation under harsh process conditions.

By preventing leakage and maintaining a stable seal interface at high pressure, the HP760 helps enhance equipment uptime, reduce environmental and safety risks, and improve overall process efficiency. Designed for highpressure pumps and process machinery, it is suitable for power generation, oil and gas, chemical processing, desalination, mining, pulp and paper, marine, pharmaceutical, and industrial manufacturing duties, where safe and reliable highpressure sealing is critical.

Construction & materials;

  • Secondary sealing elements: Incorporates Orings and elastomeric gaskets as secondary seals to maintain sealing effectiveness under pressure, temperature, and chemical exposure.
  • Durable seal faces: Utilizes hard materials such as silicon carbide, tungsten carbide, and selected ceramics to offer superior thermal stability, abrasion resistance, and extended operational life.
  • Robust build quality: Engineered from highgrade stainless steels, alloy steels, and corrosionresistant alloys to provide high mechanical strength, wear resistance, and chemical durability for longterm operation.

Pressure handling & seal design;

  • Hydraulically balanced type: Minimizes face distortion and promotes longer seal life, even under variable load and transient operating conditions.
  • Balanced seal design: Hydraulically balanced to minimize axial face loading, reduce friction, and control heat generation in highpressure applications.
  • Highpressure rating: Designed for operating pressures from several hundred up to several thousand psi, withstanding extreme pressure differentials while maintaining tight sealing integrity.

Operational flexibility;

  • Metric and inch sizes available: Suitable for integration with both international and domestic pump and equipment standards.
  • Cartridge construction: Preassembled, factorytested cartridge units reduce installation error, minimize downtime, and ensure quick, accurate installation and alignment.
  • Versatile seal configurations: Compatible with both clockwise and counterclockwise shaft rotations, and available in single and dual arrangements to suit diverse process conditions.
  • Spring mechanism options: Multiplespring and rotary/stationary spring designs ensure uniform pressure distribution across the faces, enhancing sealing reliability across a wide operating range.

Cooling, flushing & quenching;

  • Flush and cooling systems: Supports external flushing, cooling, and quenching arrangements to manage heat, flush debris, and ensure effective lubrication of the sealing faces.
  • Flushing & quenching connections: Dedicated ports allow implementation of appropriate APItype plans, enhancing seal performance and longevity in thermally or mechanically demanding services.

Maintenance, reliability & serviceability;

  • Quick installation & easy removal: Toolfriendly, cartridgestyle design simplifies servicing and reduces equipment downtime.
  • Factory assembled & tested: Each seal unit is precisionassembled and rigorously tested prior to shipment, ensuring consistent quality and reliability.
  • Maintenance and refurbishmentfriendly: Supports periodic inspection, component replacement, and refurbishment, helping to extend seal lifecycle and reduce overall cost of ownership.
